Overview
Geophysics uses physical measurements taken at the surface to reveal what lies beneath it, without the cost and disruption of extensive excavation. By measuring how the ground responds to seismic waves, electrical currents, and other signals, geophysical surveys build a picture of rock layers, soil conditions, groundwater, voids, and buried structures. At Babel Engineering, we apply geophysical methods to support industrial, infrastructure, and building projects, giving engineers fast, broad, and economical information about a site before design and construction begin.
Geophysical surveys work best together with direct investigation. They cover large areas quickly and highlight zones of concern, and boreholes then confirm the findings at the points that matter most. This combined approach is consistent with our experience in geological drilling for a number of industrial projects, where reliable ground information is essential for heavy plant foundations and production facilities. Our civil engineers integrate the survey results with geological and geotechnical data, so that findings translate directly into design decisions. The outcome is a better-targeted investigation, lower risk, and fewer unexpected conditions once work starts on site.
01.
Survey Planning & Method Selection
We define the survey objectives and select the most suitable method for the site and the target, such as seismic refraction or electrical resistivity. A well-planned survey delivers useful data at the lowest cost.
02.
Seismic & Electrical Resistivity Surveys
We measure how the ground responds to seismic waves and electrical current to map rock depth, soil layers, and groundwater. These methods cover large areas quickly and without heavy excavation.
03.
Detection of Voids, Fractures & Buried Features
We identify weak zones, cavities, fractures, and buried obstacles that could affect foundations, roads, or excavations, so they can be addressed early in the design.
04.
Data Interpretation & Integrated Reporting
We process the measurements and combine them with borehole and geological data into a clear report with maps, ground profiles, and practical recommendations for design.
